The Strangeways Cabaret takes audiences on an antics-fuelled ride that packs a surprising emotional punch. Original songs about online dating, loneliness and broken promises, are told by a motley crew of characters accompanied by a live band to create a joyful celebration of life and love in all its forms.
The cabaret is created by The Strangeways Ensemble, a company of neuro-diverse actors and musicians from Wollongong, who explore universal themes from their unique perspectives to find the fantastical in the mundane. They like to make work which is evocative and challenging, but also poetic and funny, and to make people think and laugh.
By taking the cabaret on tour, The Strangeways Ensemble are spreading the love and are excited to be including neuro-diverse and queer artists from Queanbeyan and the ACT in the lineup. With a live cabaret band and a whole lot of heart, The Strangeways Cabaret promises unique takes on one of the most explored human emotions – love.
