The ANU Art School Ball is BACK!
The Art School Ball has a bit of a name for itself – essentially running as a big community gig to platform local and student artists. After organising together against proposed cuts to the ANU School of Art & Design and School of Music, the SoAD Collective & SoM Collective have once again formed one collective hive-mind to reignite this tradition. This is the first time that the Art School Ball has run in about 8 years (thanks covid), so we’re aiming to rebuild it as an event that can continue to have a legacy and set place as part of our school’s culture and Canberra’s arts scene.
The theme for this year is ‘Bug Ball’! All are encouraged to don their best pair of antennae & wings or go full bug-mode complete with head, thorax & abdomen. The lineup includes local bands, DJs, and drag performers, alongside artist installations made by current students and recent alumni of the art school.
This open community event will be held on the 16 October 2026 at Blank Cultural Platform.
