Host Maynard Brings Celestial Camp to Life at Dendy Newtown
Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF) is thrilled to present a vibrant, retro-infused celebration of Xanadu (1980) in all its fluorescent glory. Join us for a onenight-only, restored screening marking the film’s 45th anniversary – hosted by the legendary rollerdisco renegade and Olivia Newton-John superfan, Maynard (Triple J, Foxtel) – on Saturday, 13 September at 8:30 pm at Dendy Cinemas Newtown.
What to Expect
A psychedelic fantasy reborn: Watch Olivia Newton-John shine as Kira, joined by Gene Kelly and Michael Beck, in this dreamy fusion of disco and art-déco wizardry—now dazzlingly restored for the big screen.
Hosted by Maynard: Expect a roller-disco vibe saturated in camp, charm, and cheeky theatricality—plus a special surprise introduction from one of Xanadu’s stars. Costume fun & prizes: Don your satin sashes, sequins, metaphorical roller skates or unleash your inner muse—and you could score a heartfelt retro prize.
Sing-along encouraged—skating not so much: Embrace the camp, but let’s keep the aisle skating contained.
Still Wired for More?
Right after the screening, swing over to Bootleggers at Kelly’s on King—just steps away—for the official Xanadu After-Party, with Maynard spinning roller-disco gold records all night long!
