Hot Department is the immaculate conception of Honor Wolff and Patrick Durnan Silva. Having both been accepted to the most prestigious Drama School in the nation, The University of Ballarat, the two met and forged a formative friendship, bound by their deep, mutual appreciation of 30 ROCK, Drop Dead Gorgeous and sad women crying in movies (ie Julianne Moore).
Hot Department have opened for comedian legends Patti Harrison and Aunty Donna and performed at Just For Laughs, Soho Theatre London, Splendour in the Grass, Party in the Paddock and Darwin Festival. Their TV Credits include Fisk (Netflix), Aunty Donna Coffee Cafe (Netflix), Just For Laughs (Channel 10), Why Are You Like This (Netflix), and At Home Alone Together (ABC). But most importantly, they were the crowned champions of MICF Lip Sync Battle 2021, beating out Randy Feltface, Tom Ballard and Granny Bingo… and they were incredible.
Honor and Patrick are honouring their comedic legacy with a dazzling night of their greatest hits. Expect a best-of collection from their fan-favourite shows, a few surprises, and maybe even some sketches they swore they’d never do again.
“Our comedy has always lived in that space between high art and a public breakdown and that’s what we think sketch comedy should be stupid, sexy and surprising,” Honor and Patrick say. “This show is theatrical, absurd, deranged, a little horny, and freakin’ funny. It’s an amalgamation of new material mixed with our greatest hits, but rewritten with our current level of emotional instability. If you’ve never seen Hot Department before, this is the gateway drug.”
