Queer Run CBR in conversation with Mitch Brown
Wednesday 18 March, 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Ainslie Football Club, ACT
Tickets
Join Queer Run CBR for an inspiring and insightful conversation with Mitch Brown, the AFL’s first openly bisexual male player, as he reflects on his groundbreaking coming out journey and the broader landscape of LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport.
Mitch’s story, spanning his decade with the West Coast Eagles and his courageous decision to publicly share his identity, has reshaped national dialogue around visibility, hyper‑masculinity, and safety in men’s professional sport.
Mitch will discuss the challenges queer athletes face, the powerful impact of representation, and what meaningful inclusion looks like across sporting codes and learning environments.
Drawing on his experiences speaking with former players who felt unable to come out during their careers, Mitch offers a grounded and hopeful perspective on how culture can shift when authenticity is met with support.
This event is an opportunity for clubs, coaches, players, educators and allies to explore how we can build sporting and educational spaces where all people feel safe, seen, and celebrated.
100% of the ticket price will be donated to Minus18 to support Australian LGBTQIA+ young people.
Free tickets available for SBLGBTQIA+ mob – please contact the organisers at [email protected]
