“These Past Few Years is an album that I hope doesn’t change the world, because that would be disastrous and uncomfortable for everyone involved, as well as being too much responsibility for me to handle. I hope that people end up enjoying it anyway.” – Leo Amadeus.

Leo Amadeus is a queer (in both senses of the word) actor, writer and musician who doesn’t know when to stop writing music. In 2022 he wrote many, many pieces of music – some for solo piano, some for orchestra and some for band and voice. These “songs with words” (as he so creatively calls them) are what he will be performing at this event. Some songs will leave you feeling heartbroken. Some will leave you feeling inspired. Some will leave you and your memory completely because they are entirely unremarkable in every way.

Accompanied by a nine-piece band, Leo will be debuting some songs from his new album “These Past Few Years,” and will also be performing some new comedy songs he has written more recently (which are arguably better than the songs from the album. One might even wonder why he bothers with his old songs. Leo has been questioned about this and has refused to comment lest he appear “sentimental”). These comedy songs have been trialled at other events to great success. Leo has commented that he will “try not to forget the words [this time].”

The lovely and wonderful Rylee De Salis will be opening the event, playing some of her own original songs.

Some of the songs included at this event have titles such as “I Could Never Get Married (to Your Wife),” “Onions,” “Mice In My Roof” and “Where Love Never Ends.”

Smith’s Alternative’s policy specifies that all minors attending this event and being present on the premises must be accompanied by their own legal guardian.
