Direct from New Orleans, the undisputed Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia will headline a high-octane celebration of hip hop, rap and queer culture at Melbourne’s Federation Square on Friday 27 February.

Big Freedia is a critically-acclaimed hip-hop artist, TV personality and cultural icon. The Queen of Bounce made global waves with her feature on Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning hit Break My Soul (2022), cementing her influence in mainstream music. ‘Bounce’ is a New Orleans style of hip-hop that emerged in the 80s and 90s, gave us twerking moves like the bend over and the the shoulder hustle, and rides on punchy tempos, heavy bass and vibrant call-and-response energy.

Hosted by Tristan Meecham (All The Queens Men), Big Freedia + Friends at Fed Square will also feature a line-up of some of Australia’s most exciting queer performers and DJs, including BVT, House of Diesel, and Femme Nasty b2b Tropical Prince.
