The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) will host LGBTQIA+ activist Barry Charles and screenwriter, director and multidisciplinary visual artist Samuel Leighton-Dore for a free In Conversation event to mark the 40th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexual acts between men in New South Wales.

Charles and Leighton-Dore will unpack the challenges of times past, the power of activism, the impact of legislative change, and transformations in how gender and sexuality is understood. The conversation will include a video message from author, academic and activist Dennis Altman.

The conversation will be followed by screenings of Land of Storms (Ádám Császi, 2014) and Moonlight (Barry Jenkins, 2016). A Men in Love Day Pass is available that includes the free conversation event and discounted tickets to both films.
